our history
Finching Meadows isn’t just a beautiful venue! It’s rooted in the heart of Crossley Farm, which has been at the centre of the Barber family for three generations. The up-and-coming fourth generation is already getting stuck in and learning the ropes, but it will be a few years yet before they finish school and become full-time farmers!
Our name ‘Finching Meadows’, was inspired by the name of the stream that runs in the dip of the valley, separating our farm and the two neighbouring farms.
Located in the small town of Mirfield, Crossley Farm has been a big part of the working landscape for generations. Up until 2012, it was a traditional family-run dairy farm. It then saw a change in direction due to the demand for livery yard spaces to allow horse riders to take advantage of the miles of off-road riding on our doorstep. Farming is our life-long passion and something we are very committed to, so as we diversified away from milking, we shifted the farming focus to rearing high-quality traditional beef cattle instead.
We have always been part of the events and wedding industry, and since 2014, we’ve hosted many weddings and parties. We also run a local music festival – Farm Fest Mirfield, which takes place in September each year.
